What is a HIPs Home
Information Pack?
Since 14 December 2007 any properties marketed for sale in England and Wales are required
to have a Home Information Pack (HIP). The pack includes an Energy Performance
Certificate, known as an EPC which contains advice about improving energy efficiency, how
to cut carbon emissions, and how to reduce fuel bills. Also included are documents such as
a sale statement, Land Registry searches and evidence of title.
What is the HIP Code?
The HIP Code provides protection for homebuyers, sellers, estate agents, conveyancers and
mortgage lenders who rely on the information included in a Home Information Pack (HIP)
provided on residential property within England and Wales. It sets out minimum standards
which HIP providers have to meet. All HIPs which comply with this Code will include the
HIP Code logo and you can check whether a HIP provider subscribes to the Code by
contacting the Property Codes Compliance Board. Your Home Information Pack from 1 Minute
HIPs will comply and carry the logo.
Seeking credit or a
loan?
If you apply for a mortgage most banks and building societies will want to check your
credit worthiness. They can do this with a credit reference agency. However, you can also
see your own credit report with one of our partner services provided by Credit Report
which gives you access to your own credit file online. |
